At 8 o'clock on August 5, a resident of Jinan found a crocodile in the backyard of his home, with his mouth open, which was very dangerous. Rescuers from Baimashan Fire and Rescue Station in Shizhong District, Jinan City arrived at the scene and found a crocodile about 50 centimeters long lying under the corner of the backyard. The rescuers held the crocodile with an iron rake, tied the crocodile's mouth with a rope and put it into the bag. It is preliminarily speculated that the crocodile is a pet kept by citizens who see it as smaller and cute.
In order to prevent the crocodile from hurting people, rescuers took it back to the rescue station and contacted the relevant rescue personnel of the Jinan City Gardens and Forestry Bureau to hand it over. According to the on-site staff, the crocodile is a Thai gulf crocodile, also known as an estuarine crocodile. It is an endangered wild species and an important international protected species. The young crocodile is more than 20 centimeters away when it comes out of its shell. It looks cute. Some citizens will keep it as a pet in private. However, young crocodile can grow to 48 cm in a year, and adult crocodile has a maximum body length of 6 meters and weighs about one ton, which is quite aggressive.
