In response to this long-lasting rainfall process, relevant departments in Shanxi need to strengthen the prevention of disasters such as mountain torrents, mudslides, and landslides.

  On August 4, large-scale heavy rainfall occurred in Shanxi, and heavy rain fell in some areas. On the evening of the 4th, Shanxi issued a blue warning for heavy rain. The warning areas were Taiyuan, Linfen, southern Xinzhou, Luliang, Jinzhong, Changzhi, and Yangquan. It is expected that in the next 24 hours, there will be heavy rain in the warning area. Among them, the rainfall in parts of Luliang, western Taiyuan, northern Linfen, Pingchuan and northern Jinzhong, and Yangquan will reach more than 50 mm. The precipitation in the process from 08:00 on August 4 to 11:00 on the 5th in Shanxi ranged from 0.1 to 95.1 mm, and precipitation occurred in 91 counties (cities, districts) including Linfen, Changzhi, and Jincheng.

  According to news from the Shanxi Meteorological Bureau, due to the combined effects of the high-altitude trough and the subtropical high pressure, Shanxi's strongest rainfall period is mainly concentrated from the night of the 5th to the day of the 6th. The precipitation in the process is between 10 and 100 mm, and the local areas of Xinzhou, Luliang, Taiyuan, Jinzhong, Changzhi and other places can exceed 150 mm, accompanied by strong convective weather such as short-term heavy rainfall or thunderstorms. The maximum hourly rainfall can be Up to 30 to 60 mm.

  In Taiyuan, Shanxi Province, on the 5th, the rain continued to rain, and some roads appeared to be stagnant. Pedestrians wearing raincoats, rain boots and umbrellas were walking on the streets in the rain.

  The Shanxi Meteorological Observatory changed to a yellow rainstorm warning on the 5th. The warning areas were western and southern Taiyuan, southern Luliang, central and southern Shanxi, northern Linfen, and northern Changzhi. In the past 6 hours, the rainfall in some towns and villages in the warning area has reached 50 mm, and it is expected that precipitation will continue. In the next 6 hours, there will be some towns with 50 mm or more rainfall.

  In response to this long-lasting rainfall process, the Shanxi Meteorological Bureau issued a suggestion that the accumulated rainfall in some areas during the rainfall process was large and strong, and the risk of disasters in Xinzhou, Luliang, Taiyuan, Jinzhong, Changzhi, and Linfen was high. Relevant departments need to pay close attention to changes in rain, water and flood conditions, and strengthen prevention of hazards such as mountain torrents, mudslides, landslides, floods in small and medium rivers, urban and rural waterlogging, and severe convective weather, and avoid and reduce the impact of heavy rainfall and its secondary disasters on transportation and logistics. Transportation and tourism safety may cause impacts; excessive wet farmland should be removed in time to prevent the flooding of crops and causing disasters. At the same time, cut off dangerous outdoor power supplies in low-lying areas, suspend outdoor operations in open areas, and transfer people in dangerous areas and residents of dangerous houses to safe places to avoid rain.
