The adventures of the Chinese warrior "Mulan", Disney's highly anticipated blockbuster, will ultimately not be screened in theaters before a streaming release. The live-action feature film will instead be available to Disney + platform subscribers from September 4. For almost $ 30.

It was to be one of the summer blockbusters. Disney has finally decided that the film Mulan , in live action (real shots), will be visible from September 4 on its Disney + platform, without going through theaters. A blow for the exhibitors who relied on a feature film release at the end of August to encourage viewers to return to the cinema. The firm specified that this choice was exceptional and that this solution would not apply to all future productions.

An exit postponed three times

The release of the live-action version of the famous cartoon had already been postponed three times, with American cinemas remaining closed due to the spread of the new coronavirus in the country. Mulan will instead be available to Disney + platform subscribers starting September 4, provided they pay an additional $ 29.99. The platform now has more than 57 million subscribers around the world.

The film will still be released in theaters in some countries where the streaming service is not yet offered, such as China. Its production cost around $ 200 million.
