The number of people diagnosed positive for Covid-19 has increased in the past 24 hours, but the number of patients in intensive care has fallen, the Directorate General of Health (DGS) said in a statement on Wednesday. 1,695 cases of coronavirus were confirmed between Tuesday and Wednesday, after having passed the 1,000 mark since the end of July. 19 new clusters were identified, for a total of 294 still active.

384 patients are hospitalized in intensive care, or 4 less than Tuesday. This figure has been seen to be seen in the past few days, breaking with the continuous downward movement that had been observed since April 9.

The threat of an uncontrolled recovery

Nine new deaths have been recorded since Tuesday. The death toll from Covid in France reached a total of 30,305 this Wednesday, including 19,799 in hospitals and 10,506 in nursing homes and other social and medico-social establishments (this last figure, which dates from Tuesday, will be updated on August 11 ). Ile de France, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, Hauts-de-France and Guyana account for 70% of patients in intensive care, recalls the DGS.
