China News Service, Changchun, August 4 (Sun Boyan) In the hot summer days, workers are carefully performing repairs. In order to ensure that the building is not damaged, their operations need to be meticulous.

The Qinmin Building of the Puppet Manchukuo Palace Museum with a history of one hundred years is undergoing renovation. Zhou Bo, director of the Engineering Department of the Puppet Palace Museum, said in an interview with reporters that the regular maintenance and repair of cultural relics can not only "cure diseases" for the building, but also restore the original appearance of the building to the greatest extent, allowing history to "talk".

The Puppet Manchukuo Palace was the palace where the last emperor of the Qing Dynasty Aixinjueluo Puyi lived as the puppet emperor of the Manchukuo. The Palace Museum of the Puppet Manchukuo is one of the three remaining palace sites in China. It is also a historical testimony to the Japanese imperialists' occupation of northeast China by force and the implementation of fascist colonial rule.

The reporter learned that since 1963, the Puppet Manchukuo Palace Museum has repeatedly repaired the related buildings in the courtyard to varying degrees. Zhou Bo introduced that the first large-scale renovation of the roof of the Tongde Hall was carried out. From then on, the building in the courtyard was partially repaired at regular intervals.

The Qinmin Building under repair is the place where the Japanese imperialists directly controlled Puyi. There was a fire in this building in 1946. There are relatively few historical data and only a few unclear photos are kept. It is very difficult to start the repair.

Since April this year, Zhou Bo and his team have been searching for evidence, restoring and confirming cultural relics to ensure that the original appearance of the building is restored to the greatest extent. "We mainly put historical research and archaeology throughout the restoration of cultural relics." Zhou Bo said.

Zhou Bo introduced that through searching for historical clues such as a large number of historical materials, cultural relics and architectural materials, interviewing historical witnesses, and convening expert demonstration meetings to demonstrate the main building components and repair techniques, the Qinmin Building's repairs finally had a true and reliable basis.

In addition to the Qinmin Building, this time the Puppet Manchukuo Palace Museum also carried out protection and repair projects for 12 cultural relics including the Huaiyuan Building, basement, and swimming pool. The project area is about 47,000 square meters and is expected to be completed by the end of August next year.

"(Repair) removes the dangerous factors of the building itself and makes it healthier. In addition, it also makes the building'live', so that it can'speak up', as an important historical testimony to educate the broad masses of people, especially young people. "Zhou Bo said. (Finish)
