Many have grown up with the stories of "the eternal virgin" - the teenager Bert Ljung whose life largely revolves around girls, emotions, bodies and sex. But Bert's universe has also caused debate and criticism for stereotypical and sexist elements.

Screenwriter Tapio Leopold and director Michael Lindgren (known from, among others, the satire program Swedish News and the humor group Grotesco) have therefore deliberately chosen to include Bert Ljung in the present in the new film Bert's diary.

- For example, Bert has been criticized for being a bit unkindly sexist, that the girls were very much objects and not so much their own characters, says Michael Lindgren and adds that it was therefore important that the girls in the new film can be more than that.
