Emmanuel Macron announced on Tuesday an envelope of 80 million euros for Covid bonuses for home helpers. The president was on a special visit on Tuesday in Toulon on this subject, after the home carers have defined themselves as the great forgotten of the coronavirus crisis in France.

The departments will also contribute 80 million euros announced the president. "These 160 million euros will make it possible, on bases which will be investigated departmentally (...) to have these 1,000 euros of premium that the other" nursing staff, said the Head of State in front of home, during a visit to Toulon.

According to data cited by the Elysée, 97% of home carers are women, often part-time employees, three times more often victims of work accidents than the average. Around 20% of jobs remain vacant in the home help sector.
