Guest of "Culture Médias" on Europe 1, the comedian Kheiron returned to the state of humor in France. If he does not forbid anything on stage, he recognizes that it is more and more difficult for certain artists to make jokes. "In the media and on the networks, it is very difficult," he says.

INTERVIEW

Can we laugh at everything? The question is as old as the world for comedians. Kheiron, him, on stage, does not forbid anything. On the boards of the European in Paris, the comedian, also a director ( We three or nothing , Brutus Vs César - September 18, 2020 on Amazon Prime) makes jokes about everything and everyone, giving a predominant place to improvisation and exchanges with the public in his show. For him, a joke depends above all on the context. "We can say everything, it's the context that makes what is funny or not funny".

"In the media and on the networks, it is very difficult"

"I think we can say everything, but it's just a question of context", insists Kheiron at the microphone of Europe 1. "It depends with who we are, where we are, and who says it especially!" he continues to our microphone. "If I have a history of slavery and I make a joke about slavery, it will turn out differently than if I am against this crime," he explains.

However, it is more and more complicated for some artists to make jokes, says Kheiron. Some sometimes admit to self-censorship on several subjects of society. "It's the worst time for humor!" he laments. "In the media and on the networks, it's very difficult." There remains the stage to express oneself without filters. "It's still cool because people pay to come see us, so they really want to come and know more or less what's in store for them. They come knowingly."

"It is possible that some do not understand the point"

"Everyone comes with their sensitivity, with their education, and with what they are," Kheiron explains. "So it is possible that some do not understand the point. It is possible that when in a sketch I insult a woman, 1% of the audience thinks that it is cool to insult a woman as a 'dirty bitch' and he will be wrong, because the context is not the same, "he says. "When someone makes a film about a robbery, in reality for him it's a film about redemption, but some will see it as a method to rob a bank," concludes Kheiron.
