In the Kanmon Strait off the coast of Kitakyushu, the octopus fish called "Kanmon Strait Octopus" is at its peak.

"Kanmon Strait Octopus" is a octopus that grew up in the Kanmon Strait between Kitakyushu City and Shimonoseki City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. It is characterized by its thick and firm body due to the fast tide.

Every year from late July to August, the fishing season is summer, and fishermen perform takotsubo fishing every day.

Of these, Yutaka Nakauchi, who has been fishing for takotsubo for nearly 20 years, raised about 50 takotsubo that had been set on the seabed about 2 kilometers offshore from the port in Kita-ku, Kokura-ku.

14 large, lively "Kanmon Kaikyo Octopus" that weighed about 1 kilogram were caught, and Mr. Nakauchi returned to the port and then moved to live.

According to Mr. Nakauchi, "Kanmon Kaikyo Tako" is shipped to restaurants and markets in the city, and it costs about 1500 yen per kilogram.

Mr. Nakauchi said, "Every year, there are many small octopuses, but the amount of octopus that can be used is more than 1 kilo. This sashimi and vinegar miso are delicious, so I want you to taste them."
