Special opening of important cultural property of Osaka Castle "oldest" building until November 7:34 on August 3

Yagura and Kura, which have been designated as important cultural properties of the country, have been opened to the public, including the oldest building that remains in Osaka Castle.

Specially opened to the public are the Oteguchi Tamon turret and the Sennuki turret, which are located on the west side of Osaka Castle, and the flame hog warehouse used for storing explosives.

All of them were rebuilt by the Tokugawa shogunate after "Osaka Natsu no Jin," and were protected from being destroyed by fire during the Pacific War air raids, and are designated as important cultural assets of the country as valuable materials that convey their appearance.

Of these, Sennuki Turret, which played an important role in protecting the north side of Otemon, is the oldest building in Osaka Castle that was built 400 years ago. A "stone dropper" is provided to drop stones from the top toward the enemy climbing the stone wall.

In addition, in the explosives warehouse "Hora-Shizo", all walls, floors and ceilings are made of stone and plaster to prevent ignition.

A man in his 50s who came to see the yagura said, "I thought that the thing from that time remained as it was and it was amazing. I heard that the west side of Osaka Castle was hard to defend, but the structure of the yagura was devised variously. I was convinced that I knew."

The special release will be held until November this year.
