• LOC.The impossible year of Paz Vega

Comedy, romanticism and innocence all intersect in the same production. This is The bra , a film that, without a single dialogue in its script, tells the story of an elderly man, dedicated to driving a locomotive in the middle of a suburb of Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, and who by chance of fate undertakes the search for a woman, in the best style of the prince of Cinderella. Only, instead of a slipper, the track leading to the maiden is a bra.

One of the damsels in this modern tale is the Spanish actress Paz Vega (Seville, 1976), half naughty and half innocent. «Just that was what made me fall in love with this project. A movie called The bra might seem somewhat lustful, erotic, and just the opposite. It is a tender film, which speaks of feelings, of loneliness, because all the characters are quite alone in their universe ».

Alone and silent. The bra , such as The artist (Michel Hazanavicius, 2011), Blancanives (Pablo Berger, 2012) or Tuvalu (directed by the same author as The bra , the German Veit Helmer) put his cast before the challenge of working without voice. «For an actor, omitting the word is difficult because acting is also a word, but it seemed to me a very nice learning to see that sometimes words are superfluous and that, with a look, a gesture, a longer silence of the account, with a pause, with a light and with the wonderful music of Cyril Morin, there is much more to be said than to describe it in words, "adds the actress.

The road from The bra to the cinemas has not been easy. The filming was conditioned, among other things, by the interference of the Government of Azerbaijan , which ordered the work to be interrupted. Veit Helmer had to figure out how to finish as many of the scenes as possible.

«We had to do the filming almost clandestinely that they call. So when the trains went by they really happened, and they wouldn't stop, they went by and didn't stop if someone was on the tracks. We had to do and have everything ready. In one scene I had to pick up a sheet and stay close to the wall so that the train will pass a quarter of my face. So, that was all real, "adds Vega.

In the adventure, alongside him were actors such as Miki Manojlovi, Denis Lavant and Chulpan Khamatova . However, the film is marked by its many extras, citizens who, with their casual air, gave, according to the actress, a touch of freshness and naturalness to the scenes.

Now, The bra hits theaters in strict security measures and with a fearful audience. "This is a film to see fundamental in a theater," says Vega. «It is necessary to make it very clear to people that the cinema and theaters are safe places because simply in a cinema one does not speak or communicate with the one next door. You go with your partner or you go alone and see your movie and the act of sitting watching a movie in the cinema does not carry any risk ».

The Sevillian appeals to the example of much more crowded spaces such as bars, clubs and terraces, "where people are more likely to lose control and the safety distance" and recalls that none of the outbreaks of the virus has occurred in a space cultural like cinema or theater.

Despite the pandemic, Paz Vega does not stop. Not only is he promoting The bra, but he is also shooting a new production in the city of Malaga, the first to be carried out with the new regulations to avoid contagion during recording days. «Now I'm shooting a movie called La casa del caracol with a team of more than 80 people. We have been together for more than a month and a half and there has not been a single contagion . That's because when you work with conscientious security measures nothing happens, "explains the actress. Vega also claimed the work that the entertainment world continues to do, especially in times like confinement, when it gives people something to hold on to "in the madness of the running of the bulls."
