On Friday, the thermometer read 35 degrees over most of the territory and approached 40 degrees in some places. To guard against the harmful effects of the heat wave, Doctor Damien Mascret delivered his recommendations in the program "Without appointment" on Europe 1.

It is a fact, our body does not like strong heat. The ideal room temperature is between 27 and 31 degrees, but when exceeded, the effects of heat begin to be felt: sweating, feeling thirsty, or even severe fatigue. In the show "Sans Rendez-vous" on Europe 1, Friday, Doctor Damien Mascret gives his advice to better endure the heat wave.

Hydrate regularly

Staying hydrated should become automatic in times of high heat. Water, fruits, vegetables and more generally fresh food are the best way to stay hydrated. Seniors should pay particular attention to this. Indeed, with age, the thirst signal can arrive a little late. Athletes, infants, sick people or people in a precarious situation are also particularly exposed to the risks of heat.

Protect the home from heat

People who do not have good thermal insulation will find it more difficult to protect their home from direct sunlight. They can still think of letting the shutters close on the sun side and open them on the shaded side by hanging a damp cloth in front of the window so that the draft cools the atmosphere by evaporation. The goal is to create as many shadows as possible at home. Obviously, it is advisable to open all windows after sunset.

Create a cool space at home

It is important to have a cool place in the house to take refuge in on hot days. Beyond the "comfort" aspect, it allows the body to rest. The body uses a lot of energy to prevent the body temperature from rising. It is advisable to sleep in the coolest room in the house.

For those whose apartment is not equipped with air conditioning, the use of a mist or fan is recommended. For more comfort, you can place an ice pack or ice cubes right in front. Finally, you should not deprive yourself of the benefits of a good fresh shower.

Go out in cool places, always with your mask

If the creation of a cool zone in the apartment is not sufficient, it is advisable to spend two or three hours a day outdoors in very cool places. A trip to the shopping center, the cinema or the church can do the trick… if the barrier gestures are scrupulously respected. Clothing is also important: it will be necessary to favor bright, loose and light clothing. Clothing made from natural fibers, cotton or linen, have the advantage of letting air through and absorbing perspiration, unlike synthetic clothing.
