Corona infection determined within 30 minutes New test method filed during August Shionogi & Co. July 31 19:59

It has been revealed that Shionogi Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., a major pharmaceutical company, will apply for manufacturing and marketing approval to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare during August, regarding a new test method that can determine whether a patient is infected with the new coronavirus within 30 minutes. It seems that it will attract attention as it complements the PCR test and strengthens the inspection system.

Shionogi Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., which is headquartered in Osaka City, aims to put it into practical use in a new test method called the SATIC method developed by Nihon University and Tokyo Medical University.

If saliva is taken, heated, and then mixed with a specific reagent, the color will change if positive, and it can be confirmed within 30 minutes.

Regarding this test method, Shionogi announced that it will apply for marketing approval from the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare during August.

Currently, the PCR test, which is mainly used for the determination of new coronavirus, has high accuracy, but requires specialized technicians and special equipment, and it takes about 5 hours from the collection of the sample to the result. It was a wall that strengthened the system.

If the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare examines it further, the company expects it to be used in medical institutions as early as autumn.

It seems that it will attract attention if it will strengthen the inspection system by supplementing the PCR inspection.
