British media reported today that the famous British filmmaker and director Alan Parker died at the age of 76.

He composed and directed various films from gangster comedy in the movie (Bagzi Malone) to suspense drama such as "Midnight Train" (Midnight Express).

Reports said he died on Friday after suffering a prolonged illness.

Films by Parker include "Fame" (Fame), (Evita), "Mississippi Burning" (Mississippi Burning), "Commitments" (The Commitments) and other successful films.
