In view of the coronavirus pandemic which particularly affects the United States, we suspected that the 72nd Emmy Awards could not be like that of previous editions. And so it is now official: The equivalent of the Oscars for American television will be this year entirely virtual.

"We will come to you"

To let it be known, the event organizers sent a letter to all the selected candidates informing them that the traditional gala evening would not be physically taking place this year. “As you've probably guessed, we're not going to ask you to come to the Microsoft Theater in downtown Los Angeles on September 20th. This year, it will be again the biggest evening of the television industry… but we will come to you, explains the letter unveiled Wednesday by American media and signed by the production and the comedian Jimmy Kimmel, who will present the evening.

Named in pajamas?

In order not to leave anyone unprepared, the Emmy team specifies in detail how it intends to proceed and how the selected must prepare: “We are putting together a team of technicians, producers and first-rate authors to (…) come to you film at home or at the location of your choice ”. "So what are you going to wear ??? Our informal theme for this evening is: come as you are, but make an effort! Even joke the organizers. "If you want to be in formal wear we would love to, but on the other hand if you're in the UK and it's three in the morning, maybe you want to be in designer pajamas and be recorded from your bed! ". We are now waiting to see who will dare to take the plunge.
