On the program: heat, heat and heat for the next two days in France. This Thursday, a very intense heat peak is expected over the country and it should continue until Friday. Six departments have been placed on orange vigilance for heatwaves: Ardèche (07), Drôme (26), Isère (38), Rhône (69), Savoie (73) and Haute-Savoie (74) .

The rise in temperatures should begin this Thursday, with temperature values rising and maximums between 36 and 40 degrees, locally 41 degrees, as in Bordeaux, and the middle Rhône valley in the south of Burgundy, with maximum between 34 and 38 degrees, even locally 39 degrees, forecasts Météo France.

Very strong #heats are inevitable from Thursday to Saturday, with a peak on Friday. Peaks at 40 ° C could be reached in the southwest, Occitania and locally in the central regions. However, we remain below the absolute records, almost all of them beaten last summer! pic.twitter.com/e7nCcFVjtY

A "painful" feeling

The following night will be hot. Friday, Météo France plans a "maximum geographical extension of these high temperatures". It will be THE hottest day of the week, except on the Atlantic coast. The Center, Ile-de-France, Grand-Est and Franche-Comté regions will be affected: Paris and its surroundings should be close to 40 ° C. The high temperatures will be accentuated by muggy weather, which will contribute to making this day “particularly painful in terms of feeling”. Maximum temperatures above 40 ° C, close to the records reached in July 2019, are expected.

Thunderstorms should then break out for the weekend, causing temperatures to drop, except in the middle Rhône valley and in Savoie, where the peak should be a little longer than elsewhere.
