In order to publicize the efforts to strengthen the countermeasures for the "pirated site", Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Hagita has appointed the popular character "Hello Kitty" as the "Public Relations Ambassador".

Under the revised copyright law that was enacted last month, the scope of illegal downloads was expanded to all copyrighted materials in order to strengthen measures against “pirated sites” on the Internet, while the number of comics of dozens of pages "Minor things" etc. are excluded.

In order to make these efforts widely known, Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology has appointed the popular character "Hello Kitty" as the "Public Relations Ambassador".

Minister Hagita told reporters, "Because the new law of copyright has been established and the public's consciousness is changing little by little, I want genuine Kitty to convey the real splendor firmly."

Hello Kitty also commented, "I will do my best to make everyone aware of copyright."

The Agency for Cultural Affairs, which has jurisdiction over the copyright law, will work on educational activities in the future by creating videos and teaching materials featuring Hello Kitty.
