A recovering coronavirus epidemic and high tides that eat up much of the sand. In Sables d'Olonne, Vendée, the mayor has issued a temporary closure order for beaches to allow social distancing. From August 1 to 7, the “urban” beaches of the Vendée seaside resort will close three hours a day because of “the unfavorable development of the health context,” explains Mayor Yannick Moreau on Twitter.

In his message, the mayor explains that "sufficient health precaution distances on our urban beaches will no longer be guaranteed in the days to come". Whose fault is it ? The weather is radiant and tourist frequentation is high in the middle of summer. But above all with the tidal coefficients which are announced at the beginning of August (from 64 to 84 over this period) and considerably reduce the size of the Grande Plage, that of Tanchet and the Présidents. "This is a proportionate, detailed and reasonable measure," assumes the mayor.
