Britain on Monday unveiled a new plan to defuse the "obesity time bomb" by banning fast food ads on television and the internet before nine o'clock in the evening and blocking offers "buy one and get the other for free" on such foods in addition to plans to put calories on menus.
And Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who has been underweight since he was centrally diagnosed with Covid-19, wants to treat obesity after research shows that those who are obese or overweight are more at risk of death or severe illness with the Coronavirus.
Johnson said last month that the British had become more obese than most Europeans except Malta, and his government described "treatment of the time bomb of obesity" as a priority.
The government announced a new step to help people "control their futures through weight loss, become more active and lead a healthier lifestyle."
Johnson said in a statement , "weight loss is difficult but with some small changes we can feel that we Aúqon more physically and enjoy more healthy.
" If we have made little, we can lower risk of health we protect ourselves from the corona virus , as well as to relieve pressure on the NHS. "
Says England Health Authority More than 60 percent of adults in Britain are classified as overweight or obese.
