Katy Perry has had to delay the release date of her sixth studio album Smile by two weeks, she reports on Twitter. The album, which would initially be released on August 14, can now be heard from August 28.
"I hate throwing this bad news at you like a pie in the face ... but if there's one thing 2020 has taught me, it's not to get too attached to plans and be malleable," writes Perry. "Due to inevitable production delays, my album Smile will be released two weeks later on August 28."
To make up for her fans, the singer, who is also born in August of her first child, promises to go live on social media every Sunday. She will start this next Sunday "until the album is released, or the baby is there ... depending on which comes first." The time and where the singer will be seen will be announced later.
"You will see new merchandise, I will play some fragments and maybe we will talk live together," said Perry. "Thank you for being so flexible at this time ... it's crazy. But I hope the patience is worth the wait."
The singer soon gives birth to a daughter. She announced her pregnancy in the music video for her single Never Worn White . In the last scene, she rubs her belly. She later confirmed on social media that she is indeed pregnant.
Perry has been in a relationship with Orlando Bloom since 2016. Last year, the singer became engaged to him. The 43-year-old actor previously had a son with the Australian model Miranda Kerr. Their son Flynn is now nine years old.
