Actor Hassan Brijany has passed away after being ill for a long period, and then suffered from corona, his nephew Nima Brijany confirms to Aftonbladet.

Hassan Brijany grew up in Iran and attended stage school in Tehran. He came to Sweden in the mid-80s and initially worked as an interpreter at the Swedish Migration Board, to later break through as an actor. The stage debut in Sweden came in 1991 at Angeredsteatern in Gothenburg in Allan Edwall's production of Främmande.

Since then, he has participated in several films and TV productions, including the TV series Tre kronor , Tusenbröder , and Orka! Cope! . Among the many films he has appeared in are Susan Taslimi's House in Hell and the LasseMaja's detective agency films.

He also had a major role in the film adaptation of Jonas Hassen Khemiri's novel A Red Eye as the father of the main character Halim. An achievement he won a Golden Bug for the year 2008 in the category Best Supporting Actor.

As recently as this year, he played Hussein Hashemi in the sequel to the short film Sweden's best Swede from 2016.

In recent years, the actor spent time in his house in northern Iran. He turned 59 years old.
