China News Service, Beijing, July 26 (Reporter Gao Kai) After nearly half a year of suspension, cinemas in low-risk areas across the country have resumed business from July 20. The domestic box office ushered in a peak in the first weekend after theaters resumed work. At 6 pm on the 26th, the total box office on Saturday (25th) and Sunday (26th) has exceeded 60 million yuan (RMB, the same below).
On July 16, the National Film Administration of China issued the “Notice on Promoting the Reopening of Cinemas in an Orderly Way under the Condition of Normalization of Epidemic Prevention and Control”, allowing cinemas in low-risk areas to be able to perform the Orderly resumed operations on July 20.
Since the 20th, movie theaters across the country have resumed work one after another. According to data from the Maoyan Professional Edition, the national theater resumption rate has gradually increased from less than 10% at the beginning, and reached 43.63% on the 25th. The box office rose from 3.5 million yuan a day to 33.153 million yuan (25th).
In terms of box office, the new film has a clear advantage. The "Dolit's Fantasy Adventure", which was just released on the 24th, has been the single-day box office champion since its release. "Manslaughter" and other re-screened films were also welcomed by the audience.
As the entire market warms up, more and more films will be on the big screen. It is reported that the next animation film "Mr. Miao", "Sonic the Hedgehog", and the re-screening film "Big Hero 6" will be released on the same day on July 31.
The highly anticipated re-screening of the blockbuster "Interstellar" is set for August 2nd. The new film "1917" and "The King of Speed Cars", which have previously won a high reputation, are set for August 7. And "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone", which has caught the eyes of "Harbin fans" all over the world, will also be rescreened on August 14.
The industry believes that despite the large losses suffered due to the epidemic, the cinemas are also facing many challenges in the restarting, but from the perspective of the rising heat from all aspects, with the double increase of the quality and quantity of the films put into the theaters, the theaters are back. The prosperous days of the past will not be too far away. (Finish)
