On July 23, the scorching sun in Datong, Shanxi was the most hopeful weather for the local farmers during the yellow flower harvest season. The steamed day lily can be quickly dried under the scorching sun. Liu Shengjin was rushing in the field against the sun.
In 2011, the 36-year-old Liu Shengjin quit his job in other places and returned to the poor village of his hometown to start his "new farmer" career.

I used to serve the boss of a private enterprise. Since 2011, I returned to our Niusigou Village to campaign to be the branch secretary. One was that the people wanted me to return to the village, and the other was that I loved this countryside since I was a child. The big problem is that the village has only one motorized well with draft water. In the past, one motorized well had almost no water to irrigate the ground, and I depended on the sky to feed. Later, I tried my best to drill the well and surveyed six good motorized wells for us. Now it is enough for the people to irrigate the ground. , The economic income of our people has increased.
[Explanation] The dry land in the village has become irrigated, and the planting conditions have been greatly improved. Soon, Liu Shengjin introduced an agricultural company to the village through investment promotion.

Now we have a wolfberry base for attracting investment. We have planted 1,030 mu and planted wolfberry. The common people transfer this land and earn 180 yuan per mu per year. In addition, the common people spend the rest of their time working there and earn 100 yuan in eight hours. He made money by staying at the door of his house. The remaining land is more than 1,000 acres of land for the common people to grow cash crops, as well as green peppers, green onions, and watermelons. These annual incomes are considerable and very good.

In our Jijiazhuang Township, the Yellow Flower Production and Marketing Professional Cooperative Union was established in September 2017. I ran for the head of the union. From our time to now, our planting area is 4902 mu. All these yellow flowers serve us. In the whole township, there are 1256 poor households with 2969 people and 1 mu per head. In July 2019, the construction of a processing plant covering an area of 90 acres, processing, drying and cold storage was officially started. There are sales channels for production of supporting facilities. Our cooperative can pick 180,000 catties of fresh vegetables every day, half of which is used to process dried vegetables. A catty of dried vegetables is currently 18 to 20 yuan per catty in the market, but the supply exceeds demand.
[Explanation] Yunzhou District, Datong City, Shanxi Province is the main producing area of yellow flowers in the country. At present, 170,000 mu of yellow flowers are planted in Yunzhou District of Datong City. With the continuous development of the local yellow flower industry, more young people choose to return to their hometowns to start businesses, which has also led to the local poverty alleviation work.

There are hundreds of returning youths like Liu Shengjin in our Yunzhou District. They gave up their original stable jobs in the city and went back to their hometowns without hesitation. They devoted themselves to the development of the yellow flower industry. Some people led them. The common people are engaged in planting, some in processing, and some in sales, and they are doing very well. Not only did I become rich, but also helped our poor households get rid of poverty. It is a very, very important new force in our district. Our government also supports these young people who have returned to their hometowns from all aspects, urging these young people to go further and further on the development of the yellow flower industry. We also want to let these fresh blood continue to be injected into our industry, so as to ensure that our Datong Huanghua industry can continue to develop healthily and continuously, the better.
