[Explanation] Affected by continuous heavy rainfall, a large-scale landslide occurred recently in the sand dam of Mazhe Village, Tunpu Township, Enshi, Hubei. Before the landslide occurred, due to timely monitoring reports and proper information handling, the people were evacuated and moved quickly without any casualties. On July 23, the reporter entered the scene to experience geological monitoring work.

[Explanation] At 16:08 on July 17, the Natural Resources and Planning Office of Tunpu Township, Enshi City, received a report from Chen Guangming, a landslide monitor at Shaziba in Mazhe Village, that the landslide body had cracked walls in many houses and increased ground cracks. phenomenon. The director of the institute, Dong Bing, immediately led a team to the scene for emergency response and reported it in time.

At that time, I took a photo of this and sent it to one of our geological disaster groups. Director Dong and Director Li asked me where I was, and I introduced them to them. In less than an hour, they said Catch up.

[Explanation] After a comprehensive study, experts from relevant departments believed that there was a large creeping deformation in the area, and designated personnel to evacuate the people in the dangerous area to a safe range that night. In the early morning of the 18th, about 100,000 square meters of mountain collapsed on the site, and a large-scale landslide occurred on the 21st. Due to the timely warning, people were evacuated quickly and there were no casualties.

From the deformation of the monitor’s house, to the deformation of the dam, to the next few houses, (all appeared) ground deformation, cracks, (then) cracks in the field, cracks in the road, and stones in the nearby fort Then I walked to a gully and saw a relatively large amount of water. The flow of water was quite large, and it was covered with sand, gravel and soil.

[Explanation] After the danger occurred, the channel leading to the landslide body was set up with a bayonet, and the warning line was pulled up. According to reports, a total of 24 monitoring points have been set up on the site, of which 9 are located at the front edge of the landslide. At present, the monitors mainly monitor the rear edge and market towns.

The current monitoring scope is mainly to monitor the rear edge of the landslide body and the market town on the left, (and) the area on the side of the market town. There are 4 people in total, divided into two groups. Two people are responsible for the monitoring of the market town, and two people are responsible for monitoring. (Monitoring) of the trailing edge of the core landslide.

[Explanation] On the Tunyu Highway within the range of the landslide, the reporter saw multiple cracks on the road surface. A muddy road beside the highway had multiple cracks. The widest point was about 30 cm. The cracks extended into the farmland. In the larger gap, the monitor will mark and number, and record in detail the data changes after the monitoring.

We have now entered the daily work phase, which is to set up monitoring points to conduct inspections, record its data at each point, and then conduct research and judgments for the back-end command expert team. We belong to the civil air defense, (it is a) data collection team.

[Explanation] Dong Bing said that accurate and precise monitoring, early warning and forecasting must adhere to the combination of "civil defense" and "technical defense", but in many places it is necessary to rely on people to monitor, record and judge one by one. This geological disaster can be early warning and forecast in time. The monitoring and judgment of "people" has played a vital role.

[Concurrent] Dong Bing, Director of Natural Resources and Planning Institute, Tunpu Township, Enshi City, Hubei Province

Through (collecting) air defense and technical defense data, they have reached agreement. From yesterday to today, our monitoring data shows that (the landslide body) has not changed significantly.

[Explanation] At present, the geological monitoring work of the Shaziba landslide has been further encrypted, and a video monitoring system has been activated to monitor and early warning of the landslide area 24 hours a day, providing scientific data for the next emergency work.
