The prefect of Morbihan Patrice Faure explained this Friday about the positive cases of coronavirus recorded in the very touristy peninsula. In total, ten people have tested positive for Covid-19. "Twenty-five other high-risk people are being tested," said the departmental director of the Regional Health Agency. Revealed on July 21, “patient zero” is a seasonal worker at the Super U in Quiberon. The virus would have spread in a small circle during a dance party organized in a bar on the peninsula.
This Friday, the managers of this bar are heard by the gendarmes. “They must be able to explain themselves. I am waiting to hear their answers before proclaiming, if necessary, a four-month closure order, ”said the prefect of Morbihan. The latter did not hide his annoyance at the behavior of the first patient in front of the health authorities. “The first case had the wrong attitude. He lied and didn't say everything when asked who he saw and what he did. It's a mistake. And it's dangerous ”, regrets Patrice Faure.
All contact cases spent the evening in the bar
Questioned by the “contact tracing” cell, the seasonal worker had not specified having participated in an evening in a bar. Five positive contact cases were first detected by the ARS before another alert was given. In the town, a doctor alerted the Primary Health Insurance Fund after seeing several patients with symptoms of Covid-19. Tested positive, these people declared having spent the evening in the night establishment frequented by the seasonal worker. Employees of the supermarket where he worked were also tested. "It was negative because barrier gestures are well respected there".
Confined to their home or and within a territorial isolation support unit, patients must remain in isolation. The ARS is now seeking to know whether other contact cases may have been contaminated. Pending the results of the latest tests, the authorities want to be reassuring. “We receive calls from people asking us if they should cancel their rental in Quiberon. We must not give in to psychosis. The situation is managed and the mayor has issued an order requiring the wearing of masks in the busiest streets. We are not going to confine Quiberon ”.
After the emergence of grouped cases following family gatherings in Finistère, the Quiberon cluster seems to confirm the effectiveness of compliance with barrier gestures.
