This may be a weasel, look at its lines and speed, there is also a hedgehog.

[Explanation] On the morning of July 23, in the woods of Beijing Olympic Forest Park, Chen Yanzhi was checking the footage taken by infrared cameras in the previous two weeks. At the age of 15 this year, she is an "animal fan" who was obsessed with various rare animals abroad. Later, an accidental opportunity made her realize that, in fact, "magic" animals lived by her side.

I turned out to be more concerned about some of the more amazing big animals in foreign countries. But last year, by chance, I was invited to be a "Swift" ambassador. It was discovered that the Beijing Swift is also a particularly amazing bird. It can fly continuously for 10 months without landing in a year. If it migrates, it can fly from Beijing and then all the way to South Africa, which is particularly far away. Probably from that time I started to pay attention to some Beijing native (wild) animals, whether they are birds or beasts, they actually live next to us.

[Explanation] In order to find the wild animals hidden in the city, Chen Yanzhi decided to use an infrared camera to capture their tracks. She initiated the "Animals Around Us" project at school, and obtained 14 infrared cameras through fundraising purchases and borrowing. They also sought the help of teachers from the Beijing Shanshui Nature Conservation Center to find animal trails and erect cameras in different places such as Beijing Olympic Forest Park, Beijing Yanqing Yeyahu, and Fenghuangling. In less than a month, there was a surprising discovery.

Large ones are wild boar, roe deer, dog badger, and ocelot. Then the younger ones are like Mongolian rabbits, then hedgehogs and yellow ferrets. One of the big surprises is that the goral was photographed, which is still relatively dependent on that natural habitat. I think it's quite pleasant overall. For these relatively large animals, I thought that Beijing might only be able to photograph a few times, but in fact they photographed quite a few times, and the habitat is even better than mine. Imagine better.

[Explanation] After that, every less than two weeks, Chen Yanzhi would go to the camera installation site to collect data, check the battery, adjust the position, and sort through a large amount of material, but she enjoyed it. She said that every time she opened the camera memory card, it was the moment she was most looking forward to and excited.

Because I didn’t know what to shoot before I turned on the camera, I was a little bit nervous, but overall I was quite excited and I was looking forward to what I could shoot. We now have about eight or nine people, and we are attracted by these photographed animals. Mainly from our school, there are also some middle school students who are interested in this project from other schools, and one elementary school student. I currently collect data during the summer vacation, so it will not have too much influence (on study). Usually, I have to collect the camera on weekends. My parents have always supported this project and accompanied me to install the camera and install the camera.

[Explanation] Chen Yanzhi said that discovering and observing the wild animals around is a matter of long-term persistence, and it is just the beginning. She has a wish in her heart that in the future these images can be displayed in the form of exhibitions, so that more urban residents will be aware of the existence of wild animals around them. Coexist peacefully with these "neighbors" in an equal manner and in the right way.

Probably because the residents of the city usually don't look up at them and then understand its existence. At least through these photos, I think I can see them more intuitively and understand what role they are in our city. Realize that this environment not only belongs to us, but also to these animals. For example, it can be understood that they are not worried about eating and drinking, we don't need to feed them, but they may encounter some problems in other areas. We can change through the correct solution. I hope that in addition to the students, these Beijing residents, more people can understand this matter.
