During the period of confinement, first and second degree teachers believe they have maintained contact with 94% and 90% of students respectively, according to a survey by Depp, the statistics division of the Ministry of Education. School teachers estimate that they have not been able to follow 6% of the students in their class on average. For those in middle and high schools, this proportion is estimated at 10%.

In terms of learning, the majority of teachers consider that the students have learned satisfactorily: primary teachers are 77% in this case, while those in secondary education are 68%, according to Depp. In the first stage, the appreciation of teachers in priority education schools appears to have deteriorated compared to the average for all sectors combined, since only 64% look positively on student learning during the school closure period.

School principals 74% satisfied

This difference is confirmed by the responses of school principals, who are 74% to declare themselves satisfied with the learning of the pupils, against 55% for those exercising in priority education, continues the Depp. As for parents of middle and high school students, 79% say that the school work offered to their child has been profitable.

Among the parents of middle school and high school students questioned, 60% declared the acquisition of new learning methods and better autonomy for their child. Regarding learning, 66% of parents consider that the level of learning has been maintained, but only 41% think that their child has progressed in his learning, and 37% that he has been able to improve his level in certain subjects. .

During the confinement period linked to the health crisis from March to May, the Depp conducted seven surveys with parents of secondary school students and their children, teachers of schools, colleges and high schools, as well as middle and high school management staff, school directors, educational inspectors and senior education advisers. More than 100,000 people were interviewed in May.
