Would the European Union recovery plan be less “historic” for the French than for the President of the Republic? This Tuesday, July 21, Emmanuel Macron spoke live and in duplex from the Elysée Palace to answer Gilles Bouleau's questions in the 20 Hours of TF1. For 17 minutes, the Head of State spoke on the agreement amounting to 750 billion euros concluded the same day, but also returned to topical subjects such as free masks and security and incivility.

After his interview on July 14, this second intervention by Emmanuel Macron in a week did not create the event. From 8:09 p.m. to 8:26 p.m., 5.7 million French people were gathered in front of their post, or 30% of audience share. As a whole, this edition of the News brought together 5.5 million viewers. While this is a good score, it does not denote the newspaper's usual audience. The day before, 5.70 million people followed the news on TF1.

8.08 million viewers on July 14

The interview with Emmanuel Macron, however, allows TF1 to overtake France 2 by more than a million viewers. As a reminder, the interview of the President of the Republic against Léa Salamé and Gilles Bouleau on July 14th attracted 8.08 million viewers on the first two channels.
