He added in statements to the (7/22/2020) episode of "Without Borders" program that Sheikh Ahmed Al-Tayeb’s arrival at Al-Azhar was an exceptional thing, and since his arrival as he seeks to reform Al-Azhar from the inside, he refuses to use it to pass the political messages of the regime, describing the attempt of President Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi Control of Al-Azhar in contravention of the Constitution.

He added that the Egyptian law stipulates that Al-Azhar is an independent scientific body based on all its affairs and responsible for disseminating the Islamic religion and the Arabic language around the world, and the law that the government wants to impose stipulates that the Al-Azhar Islamic Research Academy is affiliated with the Ministry of Justice or the Prime Minister, and also states that The prime minister is the appointee of the mufti.

He explained that in the past, the mufti was nominated by the Council of Senior Scholars and it is through free direct direct election or that the Scholars Authority choose 3 personalities to choose the presidency from one person, while the new law gives this advantage to the Prime Minister and also gives him an extension to the Mufti more than a period without returning to Al-Azhar.

On the conflict of fatwas and the government's use of this inconsistency as a justification for the new law, Al-Sagheer stressed that the one who causes this conflict is the Mufti of Shawki Alam, who must be said immediately, because he used the fatwa in political interests, interfered with fatwas in tourism and series, and finally prohibited prayers in the Hagia Sophia Mosque in Turkey For political purposes.

Sheikh Muhammad Al-Sagheer also revealed the existence of instructions issued to all Egyptian media not to publish anything positive about Al-Azhar and its sheikhs, and the head of the General Intelligence Service, Abbas Kamel, directed this matter.

He added that, since Sisi came to power while he accused others of using religion in politics, but he has used more than that in the history of Egypt, he mixed religion with tourism and wanted scholars to bless the nudity beaches of Sharm El Sheikh, and he also wanted to play the roles of religious sheikhs and recorded a prayer in his voice broadcasting On the channels.

He added that Sisi not only used Islam in politics, but he is also the first president to use Christians in politics, calling on Egyptians to stand behind Al-Azhar in his battle with Sisi at the present time.
