A 3-year-old boy narrowly escaped blindness after a metal nail pierced his eyeball at the family's home in Khon Kaen, Thailand.

According to the British newspaper, "The Metro", the doctors managed to save the child, after he was taken to the hospital, where he was lucky because the nail settled in a part far from the lens of the eye, which if the nail hit it, the child would lose his sight.

Doctors took pictures of the terrible injury to the child, and showed the nail completely buried in his eye. X-rays also revealed how deep the metal, which settled in the eyeball of the child, almost reached his skull.
Doctors underwent a successful surgery to remove the nail from the child's eye, who is recovering in an eye care ward in a Thai hospital.

Ophthalmologist Tat Sangwansak said: "We will examine the wound in the coming days, but we are confident that the child will be able to see again."
