Aya Nakamura at the 2019 NRJ Music Awards - VILLARD / SIPA

  • On Friday, Aya Nakamura released "Jolie Nana", a potential summer hit.
  • But that was without counting on Wejdene, whose track “Anissa” has been ringing for weeks.
  • Can "Jolie Nana" dethrone the already well installed "Anissa"? "20 Minutes" is the match between these two summer hits.

The summer duel. Friday, Aya Nakamura signed her big comeback by unveiling Jolie Nana , a fresh and tangy track on "a pretty girl" who "looks pretty djo". A song that came right on time for the summer season, and which was launched with a very long clip of more than seven minutes with handpicked guests, including comedian Camille Lellouche.

It did not take more for Aya Nakamura to once again break the house - generating several million views on YouTube - and rise to pole position to claim the famous "summer hit". But that was without counting on Wejdene.

Because for several weeks, the young singer, unknown until then, has been a hit with her song Anissa , a name that is now on everyone's lips. A real phenomenon, the title has been running in a loop since it was put online at the end of May, and has also given rise to a new expression in the French language: "You take your dirty underpants and you are out of my sight". A success as some already compare it to another summer hit dating from 2018, Djadja , the first box ... of Aya Nakamura.

But can the queen of the dancefloor  now stand up to the Wejdene tidal wave? Can Jolie Nana dethrone the already well established Anissa  ? 20 Minutes  is the match between these two summer titles.

A cousin story vs a pretty chick story

Let's start by identifying the forces involved. On the one hand, we have Wejdene and his dark history of adultery. Deceived by his own cousin - the famous Anissa - our protagonist is then determined to shoot his ungrateful ex, with questionable hygiene moreover (he wears dirty underwear). "The two of us are over, you're looking for me, but I'm no longer there," she said categorically.

On the other side, Aya Nakamura, a "pretty chick" planted by a nullos, who goes in search of a "pretty djo" at her height. "Don't worry, I'm going to screw everything up, it's the fucking life," she says.

In short, two experiences of losing and two women determined to gain the upper hand. If we can only sympathize with the story of Wejdene, that of Aya Nakamura has a slightly more demanding dimension and encourages us not to waste our time with thugs. Little weakness for Jolie Nana therefore, and her girl power subtext .

The point goes to… Aya Nakamura, who would never have tolerated a guy wearing dirty underpants.

"You are out of my sight" vs "I'm not very mythological"

The story of a song is all well and good, but what makes the strength of a summer hit is of course its ability to get into our heads, and to stay there. As usual, Aya Nakamura draws a hard-hitting track, of formidable efficiency, thanks to its numerous repetitions ("He made me stupid, stupid") and his heady chorus, "Jolie nana looks pretty djo / Comment on fait ? I am not very mythological ”. Note some interesting formulations, including "You are full of gibberish".

But Wejdene is far from being outdone, and signs with Anissa a title that will never leave your head until the end of time. Under an apparent simplicity, let us note all the same the presence of a rather fluid Alexandrian, "Apparently you do not love me,
it is another that you love" (do not doubt it, we recounted several times ). But the strength of the song is obviously its flagship formula, now part of the common language: "You take your dirty underpants and you are out of my sight". Yes, that does not mean anything, and at the same time everything becomes clear.

The point goes to… Wejdene. If Aya Nakamura had succeeded in making an impression with her “I'm not your hooker like” and “blah blah blah pookie”, Wejdene hits hard with his dirty underwear.

Indie clip vs Hollywood clip

Last round, the clips. And this time it's really two rooms, two atmospheres. For Anissa , Wejdene opted for a simple video and a decor that has already proven itself: the hotel room. The singer evolves there throughout the clip in different rooms, the bedroom, the balcony, the entrance etc. and invites some guests, including fake police officers and girlfriends. Big highlight of the video, Wejdene's self-mockery, which notably includes a fake interview scene where a journalist wonders about the artist's approximate syntax. Sober, but effective.

On the other hand, Aya Nakamura signs a polished clip of nearly seven minutes, a sort of short film shot in Asnières, in the Hauts-de-Seine. On occasion, the Courtilles district has been completely revamped and sprinkled with winks from the singer, who refers to her big hits (the "Pookie pizza" for example). And as Aya Nakamura knows how to surround herself very well, she invited the actress Karidja Touré (Bande de filles ), and the comedian Camille Lellouche, to embody her song.

The point goes to… Aya Nakamura and Wejdene tied. We underline the care given to Jolie Nana , but we also appreciate Anissa's humor .

Verdict

If you know how to count, you will have guessed that it is difficult to decide between our two summer hits. If Aya Nakamura hits the nail on the head once again, her summer song may be a bit weaker than her previous hits, like Pookie or Girlfriends . And the song faces a serious competitor that is Anissa , who entered the race much earlier in the summer. We therefore rely on Wejdene to definitely mark the summer of 2020. Next step: a feat between the two singers to sign the hit of the year.
