If you are flying this summer, make sure you have a mask, but not just any mask. In a tweet published on July 17, spotted this Monday by Ouest France, the company Air Corsica explained that masks made of consumer fabric were not allowed on its flights. Passengers must wear surgical masks.

Indeed, the decree of May 31, which prescribes measures to deal with the epidemic of coronavirus, indicates that "any person of eleven years or more carries, on board the aircraft performing public transport to, from or to inside the national territory, from embarkation, a single-use surgical type mask ”(Article 11).

Provide several masks for a flight

The characteristics of this mandatory mask for air transport are specified in article 49 of the decree, it is a "spray mask complying with standard EN 14683". "By avoiding the projection of droplets emitted by the wearer of the mask, this type of mask limits contamination of the external environment and of other people", indicates the government on a dedicated site.

The so-called “general public” masks, made of fabric, are not sufficient to be able to board. Surgical masks should be worn for a maximum of four hours. On its website, the Air France company recommends “changing it after drinking or eating. It is therefore useful to have several with you depending on the duration of the flight. "
