Humanity Day in 2019 at La Courneuve - Lionel Urman / Sipa USA / SIPA

Covid-19 got the better of Huma Day. "Health, financial and legal risks force us to give up holding a Party, even a small one, at La Courneuve Park," we read on Monday on the L'Humanité website . We are going to work on an event of a different nature for this same weekend of September 11, 12 and 13 ”.

A new format

Patrick Le Hyaric explains the reasons for this cancellation. Problems related to the number of visitors, to the budget ... The director of L'Humanité has tried everything to maintain the event while respecting the sanitary rules, but the risks linked to Covid-19 are very real. Another format is planned for September.

“Under these conditions, we propose to hold the Fête de l'Humanité in a new format […] with cultural initiatives, major debates, acts of international solidarity, statements by actors of social movements, citizens and cultural events, in various places in the Paris region and beyond, relayed on a dedicated digital platform. We want to combine our new Holiday project with a striking solidarity initiative for children in partnership with the Secours populaire français ”, it is explained on the website of L'Humanité .
