Sakai is 62 years old from Wakayama prefecture.

After serving as General Manager of Tokyo District Public Prosecutor's Office and Deputy Prosecutor of the Supreme Public Prosecutor's Office, he became the new Prosecutor General of the Tokyo High Public Prosecutor's Office on 17th of this month.
