Prix 20 Minutes du roman: What Maxime Chattam expects from the four finalist manuscripts - 20 Minutes

  • A thriller, a children's book, a historical odyssey and a fantasy novel… These are the four finalists for the novel's "20 Minutes" prize.
  • These four manuscripts were selected for their interest and their qualities by a committee of 37 jurors, journalists and employees of 20 Minutes and contributors to the group "  20 Minutes books".
  • They will be submitted in the coming days to the reading of the novelist Maxime Chattam, godfather and president of the jury, before a deliberation planned for the return.

Congratulations to the 504 aspiring writers who took advantage of the confinement to submit the manuscript of a novel on the theme "the future belongs to youth" to us. After several weeks of intensive readings, four of them were selected to participate in the final of the first writing competition launched by 20 Minutes .

They will be submitted this weekend to the careful reading of the novelist Maxime Chattam, our godfather and president of the jury, before a deliberation to distinguish the winner is held at the start of the school year.

These four manuscripts were able to convince us of their qualities through all our filters: that of the New authors, whose platform collected and read all your stories, that of our partner Prisma editions, and that of the committee of 37 jurors, put in place by 20 Minutes with its journalists and the contributors of the group "20 Minutes books". These finalists belong to four different genres: youth, history, thriller and fantasy. But enough suspense: here they are (quickly) presented.

The youth novel: "Amy Lemas, the first elected"

Author Betty Bluet, HR project manager, is 33 years old and lives in Normandy. His youth novel Amy Lemas, the first elected  is the first volume of a possible trilogy. Under a fluid and alert pen, we follow the fate of two teenagers who discover a gift: one reads thoughts while the other can become invisible. One day, the boy's parents disappear ...

The historical novel: "The Colors of a Man"

The author Antoine Dari, consultant in Lyon, is only 25 years old. His novel The Colors of a Man,  however, shows great maturity. It retraces, in the manner of a singular and fascinating odyssey, the life of a hundred-year-old painter who, on the day of his death, leaves to his grandson, also a painter, a notebook full of his most tumultuous memories. …

The thriller: "La Corniche"

Author Syllvie Kara is 42 years old and lives in the Landes. His novel La Corniche  is an exciting thriller bringing two teenagers to grips with the threat of the Darkweb. Specialist teacher, she had long wanted to write a fiction around her universe. The 20 Minutes prize for the novel, with its theme, was, according to her, "a trigger".

The fantasy novel: "Moon of Guernanor"

Author Estelle Willequet, professor of French, is 37 years old and lives in Haute-Savoie. His novel Lune de Guernanor  invents a whole imaginary universe populated by cruel warriors and heiresses who ignore each other. Will the youngest ones manage to save their world? That is the whole point of a story whose multiple twists and turns keep the reader in suspense on ... 800 pages!
