  • The next Koh-Lanta season , broadcast at the start of the new season on TF1, is called "Les 4 Terres".
  • For the first time, four teams compete and represent the different major French regions.
  • 20 Minutes watched the first episode of this new edition without Claude but with a beautiful cast.

No, Claude will not be in the casting for the next Koh-Lanta season . The best adventurer in the history of the game gives way to others for a new edition which promises to be rich in twists. From the action, there are from the first episode that 20 Minutes was able to watch. This year, 24 candidates compete in Fiji and form four different teams, a first in 19 years. But above all, a strong bond unites each person with the other members of his tribe: his region of origin.

In "Les 4 Terres", the north of France opposes the south, which faces the west, which challenges the east. Chauvinism will therefore be a key determinant of the season, with apprentice adventurers who have their region at heart. It was even an essential element at the time of the casting. “We had a lot of fun doing a double casting, [the first] on the motivation and the interest of participating in Koh-Lanta , and [the second] on the attachment to their region, their knowledge, since how many time they live there… ”explains Alexia Laroche-Joubert, the producer of the show.

Survival conditions taken to the extreme

For Denis Brogniart, "there has never been so much osmosis from the start" thanks to the combat of the regions. "It is in our DNA, we are proud to be French, we live in the most beautiful country in the world", he launched with a suspicion of lack of objectivity. The 24 candidates wear new colors on their emblem (orange, purple, green and blue) and are proud of them from the start. "The theory of 4 Terres works from the first minutes, the candidates take it, and it went beyond our expectations", promises Julien Magne, director of flow programs at Adventure Line Productions, the company that product Koh-Lanta .

The geographic division will not be the only rebound of the season, however. After each comfort test, the team arriving in fourth and last position will be sent to the island of exile, a land of the most hostile. No cabin, little food, no water point, survival is pushed to its extreme. Will this overwhelm the candidates for the next day's immunity test? Or, on the contrary, will the island of exile push them to surpass themselves so as never to set foot there again?

This year, the cast wants to be a little younger than the previous one. Sports exploits are therefore to be expected, even during the very first comfort test. Let those who love strategy reassure themselves, spades and other low blows between adventure comrades will also be on the program.

Objective: maintain audience reach

With "The Isle of Heroes", Koh-Lanta has exceeded all production expectations and has become the soap of containment. The show has managed to attract new fans, and bring back those who have dropped it over the years. In total, between the first and the fifteenth episode of this exceptional season, Koh-Lanta gained 60% audience. "We recruited a different audience that will have to be satisfied," analyzes Rémi Faure, the director of TF1's stream programs.

Last, and not least, to convince newcomers to cling to this edition: programs without test of immunity or without advice are now ancient history. The breakdown of episodes (which had been so much criticized) will not come back this year, and it is not expected that it will be renewed in the future. Phew, "Les 4 Terres", which will be broadcast for the start of the school year, it will be 100% pure Koh-Lanta !
