"In order to check the company's emissions, "going into the sky", climbing dozens of meters of chimneys to check exhaust gas automatic monitoring facilities, and drilling holes to check the company's waste water discharge are commonplace." Guangxi Liuzhou Ecological Environmental Protection Comprehensive Administrative Law Enforcement Deputy Detachment Chen Hao said on the 15th.

As an important industrial town in the Southwest, Liuzhou has a greater pressure on environmental protection. Especially after the comprehensive law enforcement reform of ecological environment protection this year, the comprehensive administrative law enforcement detachment of Liuzhou City's ecological environment protection has shouldered the heavy responsibility of sewage supervision of nearly 4,000 enterprises in Liuzhou City.

44-year-old Chen Hao has been sticking to the front line of ecological environmental protection law enforcement for 10 years, crawling over various chimneys of large and small enterprises in Liuzhou City to check the emissions. Recently, the reporter followed the law enforcement personnel into the Liugang Group factory, boarded the coking chimney to check the operation of exhaust gas automatic monitoring facilities and exhaust emissions.

The height of this chimney is about 100 meters, and the automatic monitoring facility is installed at a height of about 30 meters. It needs to climb around the chimney and return to the stairs to reach it. In summer, the surface temperature of this chimney was above 50°C. Chen Hao and his colleagues climbed up next to the chimney and were “roasted” with sweat. After a while, the clothes were soaked.

"This chimney is not too difficult to climb. Liu Gang also has several chimneys over 150 meters high. The monitoring port is at a height of 70 meters. The stairs are located on the inner wall of the chimney, and the inclination reaches 60 degrees. It is very difficult to climb." Chen Hao said. Chen Hao recalled that when he climbed the chimney for the first time, he was a bit scared when he saw the monitoring port at a height of tens of meters. Today, Chen Hao is very familiar.

In addition to "God" to check the operation status of the waste gas automatic monitoring facility, the environmental protection law enforcement personnel also have to "enter the ground" to check the wastewater. Some wastewater discharge outlets are 10 meters underground, the underground environment is forced, dark, humid, and hot, and law enforcement personnel may even face the risk of toxic and harmful gas emissions.

Although the working environment is difficult and there are certain risks, Chen Hao still sticks to the front line. Chen Hao said, "Only through strict supervision can we ensure that companies continue to discharge pollutants in compliance with the standards, otherwise the exhaust gas and waste water exceeding the standard will affect and destroy the ecological environment."

In the 1980s and 1990s, Liuzhou was "the capital of acid rain". Chen Hao still remembers the bicycles at home when he was a kid. When it didn't rain, it was dusty and rusted when it rained.

In recent years, Liuzhou City has vigorously promoted Liugang Group to implement ultra-low-emission transformation through a series of environmental treatments, pay close attention to the control of industrial pollution sources, and reduce the total amount of major pollutant emissions; at the same time, it highlights the comprehensive improvement of construction site and road dust and enhances urban dust pollution Control level.

The ecological environment of Liuzhou City has been greatly improved. In 2019, the ambient air quality in Liuzhou City was effectively monitored for 365 days, and the air quality excellent rate was 89.6%, which was the best in the past five years. In the 2019 national ranking of surface water quality announced by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, Liuzhou City ranks second in the country.

Chen Hao, who grew up in Liuzhou, said: "Seeing Liuzhou from the acid rain capital to the clear water and blue sky, the qualitative change in the ecological environment is my biggest motivation to stick to it." (End)
