Several thousand people demonstrated on Tuesday in Paris and in the region at the call of a dozen trade union organizations, including SUD and the CGT, to denounce the agreements concluded during the "Ségur de la santé", deemed insufficient to meet needs from the public hospital. "The Covid has shown that we need beds, we don't have them", explained in the Parisian procession Guillaume Rosey, neurology nurse in Maubeuge, disappointed by the memorandum of understanding signed Monday in Matignon by union organizations majority (CFDT, FO and Unsa).

The “Ségur agreements”, covering an envelope of 8.1 billion euros, provide for a minimum salary increase of 183 euros net for all paramedical hospital staff (nurses, nursing assistants) and non-medical staff ( technical and administrative agents). They also include a revision of the salary scales for certain trades, on the order of 35 euros net monthly on average, and new increases for overtime, night work, Sunday and public holidays.

These measures "did not meet expectations", and in particular the "minimum of 300 euros for all agents," said Paule Bensaid, nurse in an EPSM (establishment for disabled adult) in Lille, stressing the lack of means of the public hospital: "where I work, we did not have a mask before April 30".

In Paris, the demonstration brought together several thousand people, from Place de la République to Place de la Bastille. The parade was organized a few hours after the tribute ceremony for nursing staff, Place de la Concorde as part of the July 14 celebrations.

Among the demonstrators, some came from a rally organized by "yellow vests" in front of the General Police Inspectorate (IGPN) to denounce police violence. Also present were the secretary general of the CGT, Philippe Martinez and the LFI deputy Eric Coquerel.

Sporadic clashes in Paris

In Lyon, some 500 people, including many "yellow vests", paraded behind a banner "first of chores, last considered". In Bordeaux, they were between 150 and 200, gathered in the city center. "Certainly we have had an increase but this agreement does not guarantee a better organization of work or the interruption of bed closings, which was essential for us", denounced Laurence Lagoubie, whose union (CGT) refused to sign the agreement.

In Toulouse, 250 people according to the police and 400 according to the organizers took part in the demonstration. For Joël, educator in medico-social and SUD representative, "we talk a lot about health but our problems overlap and we also suffer from accounting management".

In Paris, the demonstration was marked by sporadic clashes between the police and demonstrators at the end of the procession on the Place de la Bastille. The gendarmes used tear gas. In addition, two people were briefly arrested by the police for "flying over a prohibited area" after dropping in the air balloons on which hung an anti-Macron banner during the parade on July 14 place of Concorde.
