The mayor of New York has banned the holding of any public events this summer, with the exception of rallies of the movement "The life of black people matters." Even in a highly competitive environment, this is arguably the most outspoken politically motivated step in the entire pandemic.

Bill de Blasio decided that for New Yorkers, summer is canceled ... unless they participate in BLM demonstrations. The mayor of New York announced that all major events that were supposed to take place at the Big Apple this summer are being canceled as part of efforts to curb the spread of coronavirus. The only exception is meetings in support of social justice.

Regardless of whether you are afraid of the coronavirus before the shake and think that we will all die from it, or you are one of those who believe that coronavirus is a fiction, created as a means of controlling the population, de Blasio’s logic is not traced.

As far as I know, coronavirus has no political preferences. The brightest minds of virology have not yet discovered the connection between a person’s worldview and his chances of becoming infected. Both the antifascist and the puppeteer can become the carrier or victim of the virus. Although, I suppose, both of them will agree with the importance of covering the face.

According to de Blasio, he did not ban BLM demonstrations because protesters ’demands for racial justice are too important to drown out.

“If it was only about health, then we would say:“ If you can, stay home. ” But we understand the significance of this moment for history; people talk about the need for radical changes, ”he explained to CNN host Wolf Blitzer.

We all understand, mayor de Blasio: this year's election, you do not like Donald Trump, so you are joining the new-fangled liberal agenda in order to earn yourself an excellent reputation. And it does not matter that New York became one of the most affected American cities by coronavirus - according to the latest data, 22,719 people died there. It doesn't matter that last weekend in New York, 64 people got gunshot wounds, 10 of them died, including a man who walked by the hand with a six-year-old daughter. It does not matter that in June the total number of incidents involving the use of firearms reached 205 - the highest figure for June since 1996.

Obviously, the outbursts of violence have nothing to do with you personally and your policy of reducing the number of prisoners by releasing cruel criminals. New York Police Commissioner Dermot F. Shea seems to have said on a local radio station that you "actually took half the population of Rikers Prison Island and put it on the streets." But since he is a white cop and most likely a racist, you can ignore him.

Former New York Police Commissioner Bill Bratton, who is hailed as the man who defeated out-of-control crime in the 1980s and 1990s, cautioned against losing 20 years of progress in fighting crime and said what's going on in the city "mess".

But these trifling, small and insignificant questions do not concern you, right, Mr. Mayor? You have more important things to do, like putting Black Lives Matter right in front of Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue. I am sure New Yorkers will be delighted with the decision of the head of the local government that a cheap parody of Banksy is the best way to spend work time in the midst of a pandemic and a surge of crime.

This ostentatious virtue on the part of politicians is irritating in better times. In the current situation, this is simply dangerous. The New Yorkers do not pay de Blasio for lounging and painting sidewalks, showing how he, the Democrat, do not care about the Republican President. He is paid to ensure that the streets of the city are safe. So, for the sake of New Yorkers, set aside the paint roller and do your damn job.
