Near noon, Zhu Xiaohong, who is a chef in his own local vegetable restaurant, started to be busy and happy. He cut vegetables, prepared vegetables, and fried vegetables. He came out to chat with guests during the gap. There were hearty laughs from time to time in the store.

Zhu Xiaohong’s local restaurant is located in Shazhou Yao Village, a civilized Yao Township in Rucheng County, Chenzhou City, Hunan Province, where the "Half Quilt" of the Long March story took place.

In November 1934, the Ministry of Health of the Central Red Army was stationed in Shazhou Village. Three female Red Army residents stayed at the home of Xu Jiexiu, a villager, and left her with only one quilt cut in half before leaving. Xu Jiexiu said: "What is the Communist Party? The Communist Party is a person who has a quilt and wants to cut off half of it for the people."

The General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Xi Jinping told the story of "Half Quilt" in 2016 at the 80th Anniversary of the Victory of the Red Army, which moved many people and made Shazhou Village a famous red village in China.

In 2017, the locally built Shazhou Red Tourist Scenic Area was launched, and the infrastructure of roads, water and electricity in Shazhou Village was improved. Villagers with less than 0.7 acres of arable land per capita also ate “tourism meals”.

Zhu Xiaohong, 52, is the grandson of Xu Jiexiu, the protagonist of the "Half Quilt" story, and the first to open a restaurant in Shazhou Village.

In the past, because there was no "one skill", Zhu Xiaohong's career path was very difficult. He relied on meager income to support his elderly parents and two children who went to school. He was a poor household in Shazhou Village. With the rise of red tourism, Zhu Xiaohong practiced good cooking skills by participating in chef skills training organized by the government, and opened the first local vegetable restaurant in the village on October 1, 2017.

"When the business is good, there is an income of nearly ten thousand yuan (RMB, the same below). We also transformed the second floor of the Tucai restaurant into a hotel with a total of 6 rooms." Zhu Xiaohong said that he listened to his grandmother talking about "half quilt" The story grew up, "The Red Army gave my grandmother half a quilt, and the Communist Party gave me a happy life now."

Since the completion of the Shazhou Red Tourist Scenic Spot, it has received more than 2 million tourists. Walking through the Shazhou Village, you can see the hot scenes of red tourism everywhere: in the Red Cultural Exhibition Hall, tourists from all over the world continue to follow the interpreter to understand the red history; the "Half Quilt" memorial square, lined up Various local goods are placed on the stalls, and villagers warmly greet tourists for early adopters and purchases; idle residential houses in the village are leased to merchants and “transformed” into characteristic commercial streets with uniform styles and different products; The sleeping wooden bed is still there, making it a must-visit point for tourists...

At the end of Qingshiban Alley in the village, Xu Liangfeng, an 85-year-old villager, set up a stall in front of his house and put various dried vegetables in his house. Looking at the people coming and going, the old man laughs every day: "I can receive a "pension" every month and earn a little money. I didn't expect that life is so good now."

In addition to the red tourism industry, Shazhou Village has also vigorously developed the cultivation of premium fruits and anti-season vegetables. Loquat, Nai Li, and Crystal Pear have begun to take shape, and the collective income of the village has increased from 3,000 yuan in 2010 to 350,000 yuan in 2019. The net income per capita increased from 4,000 yuan in 2010 to 13,480 yuan in 2019, successfully achieving a gorgeous turn from the "red old district" to the "Long March Town". (Finish)
