Research has shown that adding psyllium, a fiber-based supplement derived from the seeds of the Plantago ovata herb, greatly helps in losing weight.

Psyllium showed its ability to control appetite by slowing stomach emptying, reducing appetite and burning fat, which supports weight loss, according to the website "Russia Today".

One study found that eating up to 10.2 grams of psyllium before breakfast and lunch resulted in a significant reduction in hunger, a craving for food, and an increased feeling of fullness between meals.

Another study showed that psyllium supplement alone, in addition to pairing it with a diet rich in fiber, led to a significant decrease in weight, body mass index, and body fat percentage.
