50 young people from the UAE and various Arab countries participated in a specialized training course via video communication for the graduates of the Knights of Tolerance program, which was organized by the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence, the day before yesterday, in cooperation with «Facebook» and «Instagram» for graduates; To be ambassadors of tolerance on social media platforms.
The course focused on promoting best practices in using social media platforms to spread the values and concepts of tolerance, coexistence and human brotherhood, how to benefit from social media platforms to enhance messages in societies, mastering the tools and features of each social media platform, and learning best practices to increase their presence on these platforms Social, and safety practices to keep their personal accounts protected.
Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, said, “The Ministry’s message focuses on supporting the values of coexistence, tolerance and human brotherhood, and confronting intolerance and extremism in all its forms, locally, regionally and internationally, so it always works to take advantage of the capabilities of social media platforms to promote high human values And at the heart of it is tolerance and coexistence. ”
He added that «the ministry is keen to organize specialized courses in cooperation with those platforms, to qualify Arab youth to be influential and ambassadors of tolerance through these sites, and to express their views and ideas about coexistence, human brotherhood, respect for others, acceptance of difference, and other human values that motivate people to cooperate and counter extremism And intolerance in all its forms.
The course was supervised by Moon Buzz, the strategic partner manager, Facebook, the director of the strategic partner in "Instagram" Samer Jamal, the director of safety policy at Facebook, Silvia Maslakani, and the director of policy programs at "Instagram" Kira Wong O'Connor, along with experts from Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence.
Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak pointed out that «the ministry’s organization of these types of courses provided distinct opportunities to train a large number of Arab youth from various sister Arab countries on how to take advantage of the capabilities and capabilities of social media platforms, to communicate their message to the target audience, and the creative capabilities that this requires Regarding the nature of the message, the way it is drafted, and the aspects it includes regarding information and creativity according to the nature of each platform.
He stressed that the participation of experts from "Facebook" and "Instagram" in training youth contributed to providing a clear vision for young people about the available capabilities on communication platforms, and how to deal with them in a way that achieves the desired goals, to spread and promote the values of tolerance and human brotherhood.
He pointed out that the orientation towards the youth, especially the knights of tolerance in the various Arab countries, focuses on providing technical support to social networking sites, in addition to information support related to the values, goals and initiatives of the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence, so that we can fortify new generations against extremism, intolerance and hatred, and support their human and social values Authentic, which calls for tolerance, coexistence, respect for the other and acceptance of difference ».
He pointed out that the ministry had previously offered similar courses in cooperation with the "Twitter Foundation" to achieve the desired goals and successes at the level of Arab countries, which encouraged the ministry to repeat the experience with other platforms. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak appreciated the interest of Arab youth in participating in the Knights of Tolerance program to obtain good knowledge content about tolerance and human brotherhood, and all related aspects of them, in addition to benefiting from the experiences of social networking sites, wishing them to be able to provide an inspiring message to their young peers and all Community groups locally, regionally and globally about coexistence and tolerance. He praised the seriousness shown by the youth during the course and their desire to develop their technical and information capabilities.
