Additional post without approval of postal employee Additional disposal of 340 new employees Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications July 10, 19:20

An employee of Japan Post, who has a special qualification to handle "contents certification" at the post office, also worked as a fire brigade or agriculture without the approval of the government. The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications provided administrative guidance to the company.

Among the postal services, the “certification of contents”, in which the post office keeps a copy to keep a record of the letters sent, is to be handled by an employee who has a national qualification called “Postal Certification Officer”.

If these employees work concurrently, it is necessary to obtain approval from the national government, but it was found that more than 2600 employees of Japan Post worked concurrently, such as fire brigade and agriculture, without getting approval. In April, we dispositioned warnings and cautions.

Upon further investigation at the company, it was confirmed that 341 new employees were working concurrently without approval.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications has decided to dispose of 260 people, including warning and strict caution, and the rest of the employees will be disposed of in the future.

In addition, we provided administrative guidance to Japan Post asking them to carefully provide employees with information on the system regarding side jobs.

Japan Post says, "We apologize for causing a great deal of inconvenience to our customers. We would like to thoroughly train our employees and work to prevent recurrence."
