Two of the Spanish destinations preferred by families to spend their holidays are Asturian. Of course, in different categories. The first, Llanes, is the favorite among the coastal ones, while Oviedo, the capital of the Principality, is one of the urban ones. A third modality would be missing, the rural one, in which Riaza, in Segovia, has won the title.

This is what more than 8,800 families residing in our country think, who have voted for their preferences through an initiative developed by Vrbo, an online platform specialized in vacation rentals for families. And the three most family-friendly destinations of 2020 are Llanes, Oviedo and Riaza . The contest celebrates its third edition with a 47% increase in participation compared to that of 2019, when Fornells (in Menorca) won the beach category; Gijón (Asturias) in the urban area and Torla-Ordesa (Huesca) in the rural area.

The selection of the winners has been made through a digital vote carried out from June 10 to 26 of this year and has included a total of 18 candidate localities previously selected through a survey carried out by Atomik Research, an independent organization of market studies, to families with children under 15 who have been on vacation in national and international places in the last five years.

For urban destinations, cleaning and maintenance of the city, the presence of green areas, recreation areas, activities in cultural and historical spaces, health services and restaurants are the most valued characteristics.
