American rapper, Kanye West, has confirmed that he no longer supports US President Donald Trump, and said in an interview published yesterday, he entered the US presidential election race to win him. West, one of Trump's staunchest supporters, has announced that he will run in the 2020 presidential election.

"With this interview, I'm taking off the red hat," West told Forbes, referring to the red baseball caps bearing the slogan "Let's Make America Great Again", which has become a distinctive slogan for Trump's campaign.

He went on to say: "Like anything I've done all my life ... I do that to win."

Trump, who hosted Kanye West in the Oval Office in 2018 for a visit widely reported, said the rapper's candidacy "would be a great experience" and that he had "an authentic voice," according to an interview with the Real Clear Politics website.

White House spokesman Hogan Gedley described Kanye's announcement as "a strong accusation of the Democratic Party, not only for its policies on abortion, and family and reproductive health services, but also for policies that have negatively affected African Americans."

West denied that his candidacy was intended to elicit black votes, and undermine the chances of Joe Biden, a Democrat rival. He added that the belief that all blacks should support Democrats is "a form of racism and racial superiority for whites."

The rapper revealed to Forbes that he was infected with the Corona virus last February, and that he would be suspicious of any vaccine being developed to prevent infection. West reiterated baseless theories linking vaccines to children’s developmental disorders, and said: “When they say there is a way to treat (COFED-19) with a vaccine, I look at it with great caution.”
