[Explanation] Guqin, also known as Qiqin, is one of the traditional Chinese plucked string instruments. Because of its rich and profound cultural connotation, it has been an object that the ancient Chinese literati loved for thousands of years. Nowadays, more and more people like Guqin, playing or collecting. Behind Yoyo Guqin, such a group of people are inseparable. They are the virtuoso masters who are both proficient in melody and proficient in lacquer and wood craftsmanship.

[Explanation] In an old street alley in Jinan, Shandong, sparse wood sounds often come from the studio of Wang Qiangqiang, a violinist after 80s. On July 9, when the reporter saw Wang Guoqiang, he was concentrating on the production of a "Zhongni" Guqin. Behind Wang Guoqiang, three different shapes of Guqin wooden tires and various types of piano-making tools hung on the wall, which made the originally small room very crowded. Wang Guoqiang told reporters that he majored in accounting when he was in college. After entering the society, he was not interested in his accounting work. In addition, he had a strong interest in Guqin when he was a child and resigned as a piano engineer.

Everyone is naturally interested in some industries, and some may be really not suitable. Just like me, I don’t like my major very much, (although) I studied at university. Later, with my own hobbies and long-term accumulation, I found that it may be an industry that I am more suitable for in the end, so from the earliest hobby until now I specialize in this profession.

【Explanation】Father is a skilled carpenter. Wang Guoqiang learned carpentry from his father as a child, which also laid a solid foundation for his future piano road. After continuous accumulation and learning in the early stage, Wang Guoqiang began to make Guqin five years ago. With a "genius" for the perfection of Guqin, he devoted himself wholeheartedly to the technique of making pianos. Every time a good piano is made After more than 140 processes. Wang Guoqiang said that an excellent violinist should not only be proficient in wood art, fine arts and other skills, but also understand the temperament.

The biggest difficulty in making a piano is to ensure its sound quality, which means that it takes one to two years to complete a piano. The most complicated and time-consuming part of a hand-made piano is here. Repeatedly auditioning and listening, such as whether the pronunciation is uniform, and whether the overall timbre is coordinated. Each piece of wood has its own characteristics, its texture, and its density will vary greatly.

[Explanation] With the continuous improvement of piano making skills, Wang Guoqiang began to contact the repair skills of Guqin. Compared with the piano making skills, the repair of Guqin is more challenging for him. Part of the guqin is placed for too long and the environment changes, which leads to the peeling of the paint film or cracks on the body. In order to repair these guqins, Wang Guoqiang will consult a lot of materials before repairing and repair them according to the characteristics of the guqin in each period.

Through repairing Guqin, I have seen many large, small, new, old, and old, as well as some pianos made by various violinists. The most famous "Jiuxiao Huanpei" we have seen is handed down from the Tang Dynasty. This piano has a general saying "Tang Yuan Song Bian" because they have different aesthetics with different dynasties.

[Commentary] 39-year-old Wang Guoqiang is accompanied by Qin all the year round. Whenever he is at work, he will look for some friends and use Qin as a friend. Wang Guoqiang said that in recent years, with the increasing number of Guqin enthusiasts, many people have come to his studio to understand and customize Guqin, which also gives him hope for the development of Guqin.
