On the way to the core area of the incident, villagers braved the rain and carried their luggage to a safe area under the mountain. The reporter met a villager who was going to the cousin's house. According to her recollection, at 4 o'clock in the morning, she and her husband were awakened by a "booming" loud noise, and then they heard the sound of "dong bang" coming from the window. Her first reaction was "Who is knocking on the window", but her husband thought it was an earthquake. It was not until the village notified the villagers of the emergency transfer, she learned that 9 people were buried because of a landslide.

Wu Liangzhen, 42, has been waiting at the rescue site with her husband. Her mother, brother-in-law and niece's family were buried because of the landslide. Wu Liangzhen and her husband lived in Wugang, Huanggang. After learning of the danger, she and her husband drove back to Dahe Town at six in the morning. The reporter saw at the scene that the residential building had either completely collapsed or was inclined, and the excavator equipment was being cleaned up on the collapsed house. Many rescue forces gathered at the scene, and search and rescue dogs were sniffing for signs of life on the ruins.

At about 1 p.m. that day, rescue workers on the scene used life detectors to find trapped persons with vital signs beneath the collapsed house. Then, by shouting and beating, a faint sound appeared in the mud and judged "someone".

Xu Hongbo, deputy team leader of the Huanggang City Fire and Rescue Detachment who participated in the rescue at the scene, said that after the life detector detected the trapped people had vital signs, they were then illuminated by strong lights and asked if they could see the lights. "We rescued this mother-in-law by hand, cutting machine, etc. It took nearly 3 hours."

Xu Hongbo said that the rescue action should not be too large, because it is mud and sand. If the action is too large, it may cause collapse, and the old man will be suppressed again, so you can only be careful. "We can only carry out rescue by calling, digging, calling and digging again."

As of 9 o'clock on the evening of the 8th, the landslide in Yuanshan Village, Dahe Town had searched and rescued six trapped persons, five of whom had no vital signs.

At night, the search and rescue site began to rain again, and rolling stones continued to fall. A firefighter who participated in the rescue introduced that the large amount of earth in the landslide added some difficulties to the rescue, but everyone will not give up and will do their utmost to save every life.

Yuanshan Village, where the incident occurred, is surrounded by mountains on three sides and is surrounded by mountains and water. A villager in his 60s told reporters that he had lived here for decades and for the first time saw the river in front of his house rise so high.
