The two YouTube channels of far-right essayist Alain Soral were deleted on Monday by the American online video platform, said the French branch of its parent company, Google, a week after closing that of the polemicist Dieudonné.

As for the activist humorist, Alain Soral's channels were closed for “repeated breaches of the conditions of use” of the platform. The first, "ERTV Officiel", which bore the acronym of its site "Equality and reconciliation", had 185,000 subscribers. The second, "ERTV International", had 3,200 subscribers.

He "will not be able to recreate a channel on YouTube"

Like Dieudonné, Alain Soral "will not be able to recreate a channel on YouTube," said Google France. However, videos showing it may still be visible if they respect the conditions of use of the platform.

Since June 2019, YouTube has tightened its regulations regarding hate speech and these closings are taking place in application of this new framework, said Google France. In the United States, the platform also removed chains of white supremacists last week.

Alain Soral's "ERTV Officiel" channel had already been closed by YouTube in June 2018, a week after he was sentenced to two suspended prison terms for hate provocation. The platform already invoked "non-compliance with community regulations".

Alain Soral, real name Alain Bonnet

But the polemicist had quickly obtained the reopening of his channel a few days later: he had at the time taken advantage of the "gray areas" of the old regulation to bring YouTube to reverse its decision, specifies today Google France.

A regular in the courts, Alain Soral, whose real name is Alain Bonnet, has been condemned several times by the justice system. The last conviction dates from the end of June on appeal: 5,000 euros fine, with the possibility of imprisonment in the event of non-payment, for disputing the existence of the Shoah.
