An Australian driver who was caught exceeding the speed limit on a highway escaped paying the fine, after police discovered that he was on his way to hospital after being attacked by a deadly snake.

The police said in a statement today, Tuesday, named "Jimmy", who was driving on the Dawson Highway west of Calliope, Queensland, when a "angry" brown snake moved toward its leg.

The 27-year-old used a knife to fight the snake he was trying to bite between his legs, before he rushed to the hospital for fear that he would be stung.

When the man was stopped on the road because of driving the car at a speed of 123 km / hour, the police officer quickly realized, the man quickly explained that the man's interpretation of speed was not just "an artificial story."

The police added that the paramedics came to the scene, and they found that Jimmy was not stung, but that "he was definitely suffering from shock because of the difficult situation."

The accident occurred on June 15, but the Queensland Police released the statement and video captured by the camera attached to the officer’s body only today, Tuesday.

The Eastern brown snakes are one of the most deadly species in the world, and their poison is extremely strong and fast acting.

About 3000 people are exposed to snake bites in Australia annually, and authorities say this causes only two deaths on average.
