From July 5th to 6th, a round of heavy rain hit the urban area of Huangshi City, causing some old communities to be flooded. The water depth reached 1 meter, and residents were trapped for rescue.
At 6 o'clock on the morning of the 6th, the Huangshi City Fire Rescue Detachment received the public's request for assistance, saying that a waterlogging occurred in the shipyard community of Xinzha Community in Huangshigang District, and dozens of residents were trapped in their homes and asked for rescue. After receiving the alarm, the detachment command center immediately dispatched 2 fire trucks and 11 firefighters from the Huahu Fire Rescue Station to rescue the scene with lifeboats, life jackets, safety ropes and other rescue equipment.
After the fire rescue personnel arrived, it was found that the central road in the community had serious water accumulation. After investigation, the water channel length was about 200 meters. The depth of the water reached the rescuer’s waist (about 1 meter), and most of the old houses in the community have been under water for a long time. The infiltrating bubble has obvious cracks and there is a hidden danger of collapse. Seeing this situation, the fire rescue personnel immediately put on the water rescue equipment and used the lifeboat and related rescue equipment to fight against the clock to start the rescue. During the rescue process, due to the deep water area of the community, unknown road conditions, and a large number of debris floating, in order to prevent a safety accident, many firefighters walked on the water in heavy rain and adopted rescue methods such as ferry to move the residents of the community. To the lifeboat, evacuate to a safe area.
During the period, the firefighters learned from the residents of the community that an elderly man in his 70s was limited in his long-term illness and was still trapped on the second floor of his home with his wife. The situation is very urgent. Upon learning of the situation, the firefighters immediately rushed to the elderly home for rescue under the guidance of the residents. During the rescue, taking into account the physical factors of the old man, in order to prevent a safety accident, two firefighters picked up the old man and walked to the safe zone on foot.
After more than three hours of house-to-house investigations, firefighters rescued 52 trapped people many times, and assisted residents to transfer vulnerable homes such as electric cars, refrigerators, and LCD TVs.
